irql not less or equal
irql not less or equal
this happens when i try to Manage Pentium-M Speed/Voltage. i'm using Notebook Hardware control and when i press set after the 30 second test I have a blue screen error with irql not less or equal. Hardware problem? If so can anyone try to point it out?
I don't believe this is a hardware problem. I had the same message when I installed Nero INCD on a desktop PC. Uninstalling Nero INCD fixed the problem.
Here is a rather lengthy troubleshooting guide. I do not know if it will help, but it does mention IRQL not less or equal. I found it just now with Google.

Basic Blue Screen Troubleshooting
EDIT: from the link above. "The most common STOP screen that we see is STOP A, which is IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL. Now a STOP A is caused by a kernel-mode process that tried to access a portion of memory that was at an IRQL that was too high for what the system will allow."

Okay my T43 has been going BSOD during Startup.jdhurst wrote:In My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery, you can uncheck Automatically Restart if you need the Blue Screen to pause while you write down the error to research it. ... JD Hurst
Even during SafeMode startup.
So I cant get into Windows do that change. I have tons of different Bootable CDs/DVDs & tools.
I cant even read the BSOD completely and it reboots again. How do I make it pause at the BSOD so as to be able to Google for the problem / solution ?
Thoughts?
Loading SPTD.sys.. Thats where it BSODs.

Re: irql not less or equal
Here is a post in techsupportforum.com that says one person booted from a boot CD (which you can do) and deleted sptd.sys. It is not a universal solution, so read the entire post.

Re: irql not less or equal
Thanks JDH. Was able to do that and other stuff. What surprises me is that once you start BSODing there is no easy way to do what you suggested doing in Windows. I've now DONE that in my T61 as well as the old T43.jdhurst wrote:Here is a post in techsupportforum.com that says one person booted from a boot CD (which you can do) and deleted sptd.sys. Is there a similar option in Windows 7 as well?

Re: irql not less or equal
Yes, the same option in the same tab in Windows 7. It is just hidden more.
Computer -> Right Click -> Properties = Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> System.
In this window above, click on Advanced Systems Settings and the Advanced Tab.
