PC Card Weirdness

#1 Post by epbrown » Sat Jan 21, 2006 6:42 pm

I've got 2 IBM TransNotes. I've always had the nice one as a back-up, and carried my trusty beat-up old ratty one, but for a trip this weekend I decided to switch. And thus was I thrown into a laptop hell:

The new t-note doesn't seem to like my Verizon PC5220 wireless modem. It causes the system to hang, crash (my first time ever seeing Windows 2000 crash), and generally act-up. I'd been using the original BIOS, so I upgraded that because one of the fixes listed mentioned pc card issues and my old t-note had been updated before I got it. Nothing doing. Checking the hardware profile for the old t-note, I see only that the modem uses com 6 on this one and com 7 on the old. I changed the settings to match and I'm hoping for the best, but I'm curious is anyone else has had problems with the card on a t-note or X20?
