Keep the Z60m order or cancel?
Keep the Z60m order or cancel?
Ordered a Z60m early Dec and now status is to be shipped early Feb, with the new intel duo chips available, should I cancel and wait for the new chip?
Well...
How much do you want to spend?

If you want to wait; I am pretty sure that higher spec T6X, X6X/s, and Z6X Models will come out, possibly with a high clock Dual Core. The Merom based models are said to come out later this year and near the beginning of 2007 if I remember correctly.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

The original order was through a special amercian express had during Dec. Got a 2GHz Z60m with dvd writer and 100G drive for about $1700. I'm assuming the new duo core will be more money, but I plan on doing a lot of video rendering and editing from vacation videos, and perhaps the performance is better with the duo chip, any opinions?
What video chipset is in the model you ordered? Sounds like a hell of a deal!ibmdell wrote:The original order was through a special amercian express had during Dec. There's a good chance your machine will ship really, really soon.
My Z60t was scheduled for early Feb. It was shipped last Thursday and is sitting in Louisville customs.
I debated canceling my order in order to get the dual core, but decided that since there is always something better coming out a week later, I'd settle for the z60t. I can always upgrade again.

Look at it like this.
What cant you do now on a single core that you could do on a dual core?
99% of apps you'd realistically run on a laptop will run fine on a single core chip.
Unless your doing some v.heavy multitasking or are getting the lappy as a desktop replacement, i'd stick with the Z60 myself.

Well, I can't believe it. Order status 2 days ago said to be shipped 2-9, yesterday it said to be shipped 1-21, despite we're in Feb already, and this morning---it says laptop been shipped!!!!!
All excited, since I ordered it early Dec, I used the track button, and guess what, it prefilled UPS's tracking # with only 1Z and nothing came after it. No where can I find, no email notification etc, what the tracking # should be.
Since I ordered 2 days UPS delivery, wonder if I'll get it this week. IF I do, will post impressions. Then, I can put my Dell on ebay.
