Hi,
I did a standard reboot, and all my networking capabilities disappeared! At first, I still could establish a connection, but no surfing capabilities, then, when I started fooling aroung, everything disappeared.
My current situation is as follows:
1. When I try to configure a connection via Start=>Settings=>Network Connections=>New Connection Wizard
The New Connection Wizard window opens and I hit "Next"
The Network Connection Type window opens, with all 4 options active. I check "Connect to Internet" and hit "Next"
The "Getting Ready" window opens with all three options active. I choose "Set up my connection manually", and hit "Next"
Once at a sudden, the "Completing the New Connection Wizard" opens and I'm left with no connection!
Well, eventualy I decided to run a WinXP "Repair", which ended up with 29 files which the procedure failed to install. I copied the files manually, expanded them, and tried to register them. In most cases, registration failed.
The situation isn't better when I opt to the "Connect to the network at my workplace". The next page is completely grey, and none of the options (Dialup or VPN) is available.
Now my WinXP (SP2) system is without any internet connection. What can be done to solve the problem?
A few more details: It's a T42 IBM laptop. The connection is ADSL.

Lost my connectivity on a T42. Can't configure new connectio
Two things you can try. You can try repairing Winsock. You can also run Windows System File Checker.
For Winsock repair, see the following site: How to recover from Winsock2 Corruption
For running SFC, type SFC in the search box of Help and Support to get instructions.
