new T41 -- replace removable CD/DVD with removable CD only.

I just got a new T41. Works great. I would like to replace the removable CD/DVD drive with a removable CD drive only.

Does anyone know if IBM makes such a drive?

I haven't seen one. May I ask why you would do that? Or do you mean the CD-RW drive?

IBM does make an Ultrabay Slim DVD-ROM drive. But there definitely isn't a CD-ROM only drive.

well for me, I don't need a burner (especially a dvd burner) in my laptop. However, I do need a simple optical drive (preferably that can read DVDs so that I can use it on trips to play them). However, my school's deal that I chose had one that came with the dvd multi burner. I'd like to try and sell it and replace it with a cheap dvd drive so I can save even a bit more money.

i am looking for a good deal on a thinkpad for college, but the systems my school offers for discount aren't what i am looking for, however, i do want that nice educational discount, even if i have to buy from a different univeristy
