Upgrading Access Connections

#1 Post by jsmit86 » Fri Jul 16, 2004 10:28 am

I have been having a lot of access connections crashes upon startup.
I am attempting to upgrade the software and wireless drivers (About a 32MB package IIRC) from the IBM site, but it appears to be down.

I also have a question. I am currently using Access connections version 3.10. When I read the instrusction for the new install, it say to uninstall the old version, but list version 2.7 or proit. Am I correct in assuming that I DO NOT need to uninstall 3.10 ?

If anyone who has done this can let me know I would appreciate it!

No problem with the website here. Just download acwlupdate.exe (inlcudes wireless driver and AC 3.21) and run setup. You don't need to remove anything, the setup will take care of it.

I was able to download Access Connections via the multiple download service. I also verified that my 2200bg driver was current.

I did the install, but I am still getting occaisional crashes of Access Connections during startup. First the access connection ap ends, then the intel wireless connection status window ends. At that time the radio icon shows that the radio is off, even though I can still actually use the connection. These crashes do not always happen, just during approx 1 out of 4 bootups. :(

Any suggestions?

You might need to disable Windows Wireless Zero. They (WWZ and AC) don't really like each other.

1. Right-click the My Network Places icon on your Windows desktop.
2. Choose the Properties option.
3. Right-click the network connection for the wireless network adapter.
4. Choose the Properties option.
5. Click the Wireless Networks tab.
6. Uncheck the “Use Windows To Configure My Wireless Network Settings” option.

Already disabled! (Thanks for the suggestion though)
