Hi,
I recently purchased a T43 and am have just migrated over from a T42. My problem is the resolution. On my 42 when I minimized outlook for example, I was able to read the email title and other info in the smaller view. On the 43, when I minimize the window, same size as on the 42 but the font is larger so I can't read the entire line. Another example is the icons on the desktop. On the 42 using small icons i have 3 vertical rows. On the 43, the same icons in small take up 3 1/2 rows. I have the resolution set the same on both machines. It seems as if the older 42 can shrink the font and icons more then the newer 43 even with the same screen resolution. This is driving me crazy.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thank you in advance.
Luis.

If you have a T43 with the SXGA+ resolution LCD (1400x1050), by default, the system has the fonts enlarged. You can either go into the properties as suggested above, or simply go into Display Properties and choose the Windows XP default theme to get all your fonts back to normal size.

Re: Thinkpad T43 video issues.
I suspect you're looking into hardware differences where none exist (unless your T42 LCD was 1024x768, and your T43 is 1400x1050). As mentioned above, the font size, icon spacing, etc., etc., are determined in the Display Properties control panel (DESK.CPL). Check your themes, appearance and DPI setting (Advanced -> General tab). All of these will have an effect on what you're describing.lswone wrote:... Also ensure that you are using the native resolution of the LCD. If your lcd is 1400x1050, and you set it to 1280x1024, and the BIOS video "stretch" is enabled, you will get a sort of fuzzy, "soft-sized" image. My suggestion: work at the LCD's native res, and use the DPI and Appearance settings to adjust spacing, menu/title bar sizing, and font.
