Low Quality Keyboards? (R51)

#1 Post by wardrich » Fri Jan 27, 2006 10:37 pm

I'm using one through the school, and it's my first time really using a laptop. I've always been a desktop user. I am loving the idea of portability, though.

Anyway, I'm on my second keyboard now. I find they're of HORRIBLE quality. The first one had 2 keys break. One was my fault (the 's' key) b/c I got a bit mad and slammed the keyboard (being used to the keyboard being dirt cheap -- I am a desktop user, remember). The 'n' key, however, broke off from normal use.

This keyboard is built a bit differently. The keys are held on by stronger clasps. But, last week I noticed the mouse buttons were starting to stiffen up. Today the middle mouse button popped loose. Totally unacceptable. I did NOTHING harsh to cause the button to free itself.

I'll admit, I'm probably on this thing 16 hours or so every day, so that might be part of the quick wear-and-tear, but I have my doubts.

Has anybody else had any such problems, and does anybody know of a way to fix the mouse? I really don't want to have to go back into the Mobile Computing office at school to get it fixed. This keyboard cost me about $64.00CAD. The button works fine, and it's in place, but it's really loose.
