T21 Bios update

#1 Post by kengeo » Sat Jan 28, 2006 1:50 pm

I understand that it's advisable to update the bios before installing
XP on a T21. The question is, how's this done? I can download the
file to my PC then transfer it to a floppy or CD but what next? Any
info' would be appreciated.

Sideby side with the OS update file there is a text file(you have to open it and then print is out). read this once and before you update the bios read again and digest the content before updating it. As a serious mistake your PC may become a junk..otherwise you have to return to IBM depot to fix.

Seriously it is not that difficult I have done it twice without any problems..IBM has made it verysimple, that is why IBM support it so good.

All the best..

There is a diskette and non-diskette version of the BIOS update utility. With the diskette version you download it, then run the executable to create a bootable diskette. Just insert the bootdisk and start your system.

You can download the non-diskette version instead and run it from your current operating system. Or, you can run the Software Installer Program (download it 1st of you don't already have it) and it will automatically download and install for you the latest BIOS as well as all the other drivers and programs. It could hardly be easier.

Updating bios

#4 Post by furiousmonkey » Tue Jan 23, 2007 10:59 am

These above posts are exactly what I did with my t21 (running xp) and they worked/ I just wanted to let you know a couple of things.

IBM/Lenevo has a pretty specific way of picking your paticular laptop to the right specifications.

The update was as painfull as enjoying your favorite meal.

XP runs beautifully, I did add another 128mb to my 256 and this inproves the performance.
