I have recently had to replace the system board on my X31, and would now
like to get the TPM chip back up & running... preferably with it's ability
to read previously encrypted data, but I am willing to live without that if
need be.
I have obtained the v 1.72 Hardware Maintenance Disk of lore, and have used
it to set the system ID & serial number, and to generate a new UUID -- the
system board was unused and came without any of these preset.
I've enabled the chip in BIOS, but the Thinkvantage software claims it is
disabled, and attempts to enable via the software fail (system reboots like
it should, but comes back up with no change in status).
What am I missing? Do I need to order a replacement TPM unit since mine was already initialized w/ the old sysboard?
BTW -- the new systemboard is a 1.6ghz board (w/ FastEthernet), whereas the
old one was only a 1.3Ghz (also w/ FastEthernet), not sure if that matters
or not.
