Updating firmware on UJ-812B

#1 Post by afd » Mon Jan 30, 2006 6:30 pm

I recently bought a Panasonic UJ-812B and checked it with Nero Infotool to see its capibilities. I found that it cannot read DVD+R disc, and cannot write DVD-RAM even though it is advertised to do so.
I assumed a firmware update was in order, checking online I found that the latest firmware is K104 (current version was K102) so I downloaded it and ran the utility off a floppy.
Only problem is that when I run the utility it says that there is no firmware update available for this drive. The utility is reading the drive as a UJ-812 without the B, does that matter? I assumed the drive was an 812B because there is a sticker on the drive that says that. Does anyone know if there is a difference between 812 and 812B, or if there is a firmware update for the 812?

My Panasonic UJ-812 comes up as a UJ-812 VK104 when I run Nero Infotool and can read DVD+R without any problems.

So mine probably does just need a firmware update. Where did you get you're updated firmware from?

selfextracting floppy ..
I tried that one before. Apparently it only updates UJ-812B drives not the 812.
