Processor change.. but to what?
Processor change.. but to what?
I am considering changing the processor in my R40. It currently has a Celeron 2Ghz (M?). I have been thinking of replacing it with a Pentium Centrino 1.6 Ghz chip. Will this increase my battery life any? Would it be worth the upgrade (or would it be a down grade?)? Is this even possible to do?
Thanx,
Chris

Ahh, 2GHz Celerons are Pentium 4 variant Celerons, so the only type of upgrade possible would be to a Pentium 4 mobile. Since the P4 Celerons already have 256k cache, the difference in performance would probably not be worth it. And I don't think there'd be a way to increase battery life by swapping within the P4 family of processors.
