Change to Thinkpad Protection terms ???

#1 Post by aamsel » Tue Jan 31, 2006 9:09 pm

It appears that Lenovo has modified the terms of Thinkpad Protection (accidental damage) coverage.

Read at:
http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/accessories/se ... _legal.pdf

If I am not wrong, previously (under IBM) anything other than theft and intentional damage was covered. Now (it appears) that they only cover damage covered during "normal use" such as spills, drops, etc.

My understanding was that previously, if it fell into a pool accidentally, it was covered. That does not now appear to be the case???

Am I incorrect??

Andrew

I am happy to be incorrect, but...
If someone has a copy of a Thinkpad Protection policy from last year or earlier (under IBM) would you PLEASE compare the terms to the Lenovo link that I posted and tell me if there is any change in terms???
I would greatly appreciate it.

My understanding was that previously, if you ran over your Thinkpad with a car, dropped it in a pool, whatever, it was covered unless it was deemed to be intentional. That doesn't appear to be the case now, but, again, I may be 100 percent wrong.

I had never previously taken the time to actually read the text of the policy coverage. Reading it last night made me think that changes had been made.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Andrew
