please help 2668-6gu or 2668-75u

Hi

First thanks to this wonderful forum for loads of info.

I have spent countless hours in past few days researching which notebook to purchase, finally shortlisted 2668-6Gu / 2687-DSU / 2686-M5U

Sadly my friend says none these are available through EPP He suggested 2668-75U instead of 2668-6GU

Question for u guys

1) The 75U is Feb'05 model and i read somewhere Aug'05 and later models are better to buy because prior model had lots of heat / fan issues.
Is this true ?

2) The 75u model houses IBM wireless instead of Intel pro what is the downside of having IBM wireless card ?

3) Also does anyone know if a model is not available through EPP site could it be available through phone order ? I am asking this because I called customer service and they said 6GU is available thru EPP but my friend couldnt find it in EPP site.

yes. but i had a t43 before my current t42 and i didn't mind. all personal preference.

none, i think tp abg is better than intel centrino

if it's not there then it's not. from what i know everything they have in their system in on the website

Do you mean 2687-DSU and 2686-M5U, instead? Be careful, the 2686-M5U only has a 1 year warranty. You may want to extend it to 3 years or choose one of the other models that come with a 3 year warranty.

Yes, you can order any model with a phone order, even the ones not listed on the EPP site.
