strange about my T42

#1 Post by danda821 » Wed Feb 01, 2006 10:48 am

I ordered a T42. It was shipped out yesterday. I find it was shipped out from RALEIGH, NC, not Hong Kong, China as normal. When I looked up the warranty, it shows 2005-12-15 (which should be three years). Is it possible it is a returned or refurbished one?
I checked the warranty of another machine I returned to NC a month ago. It shows 2009-2-11(which was expired couple of weeks ago). Can this mean Lenovo resale the returned machine or they just reuse the serial number?

call them up, they are great people.
and no they do not have to be shipped from factory in china. they only do that when it's backordered. as any normal company with regular stock functions, factory ships to warehouse and warehouse sales and ships to you.

But then what is wrong with the warranty status? Even the sale person I just talked with does not know what is going on.

I would bet that it is a customer returned unit within the 30days. Probably repacked and totally checked. May even be better than one shipped straight from factory. However, the warranty data (already expired!!) is screwed up for sure. Lenovo should correct that with a simple call. And YOU still have 30days to return the unit. Happy computing!

If it is repacked, then Lenovo break the rule. I should receive a brand new machine, not a repacked one. Do you have a similar experience?

I don't know were the TP's ship from now, when I purchased two TP T30's (4 days apart) One came from China/Hong Kong ( the screw covers were all crooked) and the other one shipped from Mexico! (The SXGA screen had a piece of lint inside)

When I checked the status it showed as shipped, when I looked at the date it had shipped a day ahead! I took a closer look and it was coming from Hong Kong, it was funny because it made it from Hong Kong to Alaska and to Michigan in what seemed the same day! When in reality it took two....

Update:

I received the machine yesterday. The shipping box is a dirty and big box (enough for two notebooks), this is not normal. The warranty information I got from "Access IBM" is out of warranty, and shipping date is sometime last year. The machine is noisy, fan keeps runing at high speed, but CPU always at around 60 degrees, when running something big, it goes over 80 degrees. I called the technical support, they said it is out of warranty and can not give me any support, ask me to contact lenovo.
