Option of dual-layer DVD-RW is listed heaper than CD, dvd or combo drive.

Got mine 3 days ago, a Z60M, 2530E9U.
My first thinkpad. :D
I already recomended it (thinkpad) to a co-worker to get one for her daughter for college.
Any way the drive is:

I am looking at the Z60M 2530E9U and the Z60M 2529E9U and I don't see the dif? Any idea what they are?

By the way, glad you like it. Did you get the Biz Black or Tita? The only dif I see is the Z60M 2530E9U has a Black Lid and the Z60M 2529E9U has the Tita Lid. That warrants a $480 dif?

2530 Vs. 2529

#8 Post by Who_Me » Sat Feb 11, 2006 4:49 pm

I got the 2530 because the 2529eau was not in stock and the other was.
The salesman did take 190.00 off the price.
And it still took a month to get.
But only after many, many, many phone calls.
I was lead to belive that because the 2530 was in stock it would ship in like 2 weeks.
Wound up talking to a 'team leader' who has a contact at the factory.
She got it pushed up to the top of the to build list.

I bought the Z60M 2529E9U. It will be here tomorrow. I got the Tita lid because I am rough on my Lappys.

Dam it I got the Z60m and it has a bloddy Mastashita UJ-830Sx and a Toshiba hard drive which I was shocked by and will have to have replaced as there is no way I am trusting data to a Toshiba hard drive.

What is so bad about the Matshita drive? I got a the UJDA770 (CDRW/DVD-ROM), but I'm returning this z60m because of some dead pixels. I found that the DVD burner is actually listed CHEAPER on their website, so I am getting that instead.

As for my 100GB hard drive: HTS541010G9SA00 (should be a Hitachi Travelstar, I'm guessing... formerly IBM).
