Good deal on T42?

I have the chance to buy a T42 from my school for $2427.83 after tax. The only thing is, before I found this deal, I was planning on buying one with the UXGA screen. I just don't think it's worth passing this up and getting the screen. Any opinions?

That sounds like a very good deal. My college offers that computer for $2,749 + 5% tax. I am so disappointed now. For some reason I thought all colleges got roughly the same discount but that is over $300 less than mine. I wonder how they determine discounts?

I was able to pick up my KTU less than $2500 with school discount, although it only came with the 3 year warranty. It also didn't come with the surge protector, security cable, or ethernet cable.

Anyway I'm new in this forum here and I can share with you the deal I got.

I ordered a T42 2378-FVU by calling IBM education sales. It cost $1756.55 delivered. I added a 3-year warranty extension for $132. I ordered on Jul 9 and was expecting to wait for 15 days backorder plus a few more for delivery. What a pleasant surprise! I just received news that my spanking new T42 has arrived at my cousin's place in NYC. (I'm overseas so I had it shipped there.)
