Dang. Right as I ordered an EV-DO card. Cingular HSDPA or it's BroadbandConnect service will compete right along side EV-DO as a built-in card for thinkpads.

BTW, I'm going to try to post my EVDO installation pictures today. But I'd say that it is great for Cingular customers, but UTMS coverage is abysmal last time I checked, but even if it is good coverage, UTMS is supposed to average 200-300KBPS, not the speeds quoted in the article you mention. Take a look at this and then search google for UTMS speed and you will find the same info in most places. The speeds they quote are accurate for EVDO technoloy.

With Verizon, I haven't traveled anywhere in the US that I can't connect with a strong, clear signal. I'm no Verizon lover or anything, I just no that I rely on the connection for business and it simply works flawlessly.

Now I find conflicting info alot of UTMS talk corroborates with this link
