Anyone with a colorvision spyder and z60M to compare w/mine

#1 Post by willgriam » Fri Feb 03, 2006 9:57 pm

Something just doesn't look right on my brand spankin' new z60M so I measured the luminance with Colorvision Photocal and the original Spyder.

The z60m, not a maxbright, measured only mid 70's at full brightness and default color values in the ATI driver. My old Dell 600m even measures almost 104! 33% brighter, which doesn't sound right to me.

Does anyone have the same, or similar equipment, to do a quick measurement for comparison? maybe I need to send this in for replacement??

Thanks,
William

I do, but I have been lazy profiling it with travel and all, I may try to profile it today and can post my config for your download if you want.

That would be great! All I really need is to know what your luminance measurement is with the screen brightness on full and the ATI control panel set to default gamma, brightness and contrast. If you use the 2.7.7 version of Photocal, this should be right at the part where it shows the red, green, and blue bars and asks for adjustment.

This dim screen has almost ruined my excitement at finally getting a thinkpad and I'm hoping I really have something defective, not just "this is the way they all are". I cannot believe the z60M would be this horrible looking.
