A22m suddenly wont boot

#1 Post by funboy » Sun Feb 05, 2006 4:55 pm

I know this has been covered somewhat, but I just want to lay out my situation...I have an A22M with a cracked lcd. It worked fine on external, untill I attempted to remove the LCD panel. On a whim, i tried to boot it after panel removal. Some incator lights come on, then click off in rapid succession as the unit abruptly powers down. I've read that it could be anything from the CMOS battery to the systemboard....I need to hear some fresh thoughts. Also, is it just bad luck, or could it have something to do with the removal of the LCD panel?

I would just try reseating everything that you removed along the way.

I had a problem with a Compaq 1600s that I was working on recently, where I decided to test the LCD after it was removed. All I saw was a white screen. My first thought was that I now owed this guy a new LCD, when all I was replacing was the hinges. After backing up and reseating everything, it turned out that the LCD cable that attaches to the system board (hidden beneath the wristpad) had come slightly loose. While our problems were not the same, I think that it helps to show that taking a minute and backing up might help.

BTW, if I remove the memory modules and power up, i get the expected sequence of beeps, but the machine does not power down, just hangs there....does that help narrow things down a bit?

p.s. i stripped it down and reseated everything, nada.
