Do IDE HDD fit in IBM T40?

#1 Post by tommyhilfiga » Sun Feb 05, 2006 8:00 pm

This is probably a simple question for you guys, but I don't know much about computer hardwares.

I have an IBM t40, and currently have a FUJITSU MHS2030AT (the one that came with the computer) I'd like to upgrade it to a WD Scorpio 80GB 5400rpm 2.5" with 8M cache (WD800VE)... would it be possible?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

As long as it is a PATA/IDE HDD and a 2.5" Form Factor, it should work. :)

Yes, the drive that you listed should work just fine.

EDIT: Wow, you beat me to it!!

wow, am impressed, I get two replies in a matter of few minutes. :)
thanks for the welcome, and for the replies.

the PATA/IDE thing confuses me. Do you mean it can be either PATA or IDE (also, is IDE the same as EIDE?) I'm asking this because it seems that the WD HDD is sold out everywhere I go.

thanks

Or, .... see this thread for Hitachi 80GB hard drive for $34.50 or Fujitsu 80GB hard drive for $37.00 (plus $13.50 for shipping plus sales tax) .... from IBM parts.

I order a significant number of the WD Scorpio 40GB 5400RPM (one awesome drive) anyways, about two months ago I ordered 4 of them, I got them last week, the order prior to this one took almost 5 weeks to arrive.

For some reason they are selling like hotcakes! (I think because they seem to be excellent quality at a good price, PLUS they carry a 3 year warranty) They can't beat the seagate 5 year warranty, but is still good.
