Windows Script Host Is Disabled On This Machine ?

#1 Post by lutami » Mon Feb 06, 2006 7:14 pm

As well as a couple of other problems I'm recently getting the message 'Windows Script Host Is Disabled On This Machine' contact administrator.

I've been searching for info on this...Never had this message before so was wondering what would cause the message to suddenly start appearing.

Found some info but still searching to find out whether i actually need the script host to run at anytime for anything...do i need it for anything...will i encounter problems if i leave it disabled...also how do i stop the message from popping up every time i reboot if i do.

It would be helpful to know if there are any reasons to have to run script host at anytime...what would cause the message to start appearing...could there be any future problems by removing it.

Recently reformatted because I lost the defrag option…it just disappeared off my system…when I tried to restore to an earlier point I was getting the message system could not be restored…made another restore point to test it and it wouldn’t restore to that point either…I then reformatted.

No problems with the reformat…all running fine for a week or so then the message started appearing after I clicked on a pdf file in a mail...a trusted source…I hadn’t got around to re-installing Acrobat Reader and the file started jumping…changing colour and just buzzing up and down…I have AVG and Zone Alarm Pro running.

Since then also whenever I reboot…my home page opens as MSN page…I change it back and it’s ok ‘til I next reboot…is there a way to make my chosen home page as the default one.

I’ve used CWShredder also I’ve removed or think I have anyway Windows Messenger with a tool I downloaded…Xplite.

IBM R51…XP Pro…have all recently updated from IBM and Windows updates.
