The sound of data - HD noise

#1 Post by doppelfish » Tue Feb 07, 2006 6:32 am

Since I equipped my A30p with a Toshiba HD (don't ask :), I have to put up with the deafening clicking sound of that lil' monster. The sound that emanated from the original Hitachi HD was significantly more bearable. Hence my advice to all TP owners: When you do upgrade, steer clear of Toshiba, stick to Hitachi (ie, ex-IBM) drives.

cheers,

I had a Toshiba MK4020GLS on a Panasonic T2. God the seek and rotation noise were awful.

I don't think all Toshiba are bad though. At least according to the reviews I read.

Hitachi drives run really cold which I lke a lot. Fujitsu drives are pretty quiet too.
