thinkpad 560e

hi there.

i've installed linux on my tp 560e; runs nice and sweet .... only one problem: standby and hibernation are not working. the thinkpad ist going to standby, recovers but it hangs in the end. hibernation isn't working at all.

any suggestions?

I had a 560x with linux installed. To have hibernate working, you need to have a fat partition with a hibernation file. The hibernation file needs to be big enough to store ram plus a little more. There's a specific dos application called ps2.exe which creates the hibernation file.

I'm not sure about the standby. You need to have apm enabled in the kernel. My 560x always seemed to enter standby and resume without any problems. My new X40 on the other hand enters standby with no problems, but seldom comes out of it. It's possible that you need to unload some drivers before entering standby. I'm not exactly sure how to do this, but there are scripts in /etc/apm that are supposed to do it.
