Help with X21 (USB Problem)

#1 Post by joseangelc » Wed Feb 08, 2006 10:39 am

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie, I have a problem with my used x21.

I installed XP PRO SP2, and when I attach a usb 2.0 compliant hardware, it sends me a message that this laptop doesn't have HI-SPEED usb ports (USB 1.1) I, How I can update my laptop to be usb 2.0 compiant?

I searched on IBM Downloads, Intel Support Site and I get no help.

Thanks!

You can't upgrade to USB2.0 via a download, you must install a PCMCIA card, like I did.

$10 gave me 4 USB2.0 ports. It's just a bit of a pain swapping between this and my Wifi card.

Yup. It's a hardware issue, not a software issue. If you want USB2 you need to have newer hardware. Just ignore that message, I do. :)

I find USB2 only useful if I have a drive hooked up to it, else it doesn't need to be that fast.
