So I have this great little X22, came with the ActionTec 802.11b card in the mini-PCI slot.
I think, simple to just swap that for an Atheros AR5BMB-44 I bought.
Except, first I have to get past the 01C9 error. Ok, thanks to Danage got past that.
Now however, getting the yellow-exclamation mark. What I think is IRQ conflict. Although XP doesn't give any easy way to find this. The working device shows on IRQ 11. The non-working one well it can't show you that, just tells you it's not working. *sigh*
The BIOS settings don't seem to help. Interestingly, even recent BIOS doesn't seem to have an option to disable onboard network adapter. Not going to remove ACPI and switch to standard PC HAL, too much trouble already.
Anyhow, looks like with the mini-PCI and the on-board ethernet you need card and driver that can handle IRQ-sharing. Which I think mine cannot.
Back to looking for a card that WILL work in the X22 I guess.
X22 inflexible on IRQ settings
