T42 BIOS update confusion

#1 Post by Skywing » Sun Jul 18, 2004 12:11 pm

i was looking to update the bios on my 2374-3VU, however upon going to the latest update it says i need to have the latest version of the embedded controller program installed. so i go to the embedded controller program to install that and it says that it needs the latest bios to work! i cant install the bios cuz i dont have the ECP, and i cant install the ECP cuz i dont have the latest BIOS, what gives?

I was current with both BIOS and ECP until versions 3.06f / 3.02 respectively came out. The instructions say to update ECP first, then BIOS, if both must be updated. I downloaded the diskette versions of both, created diskettes, updated the ECP, and then updated the BIOS immediately without running the OS in between steps. Worked just fine.

What fixes do we get with the new ECP and BIOS?? i updated just about everything on my new 3VU, except for the ECP and BIOS.

Sure, download the versions that don't need floppy disks.

There is a non-diskette version for both Embedded Controller Program and
BIOS Update. Install ECP first, then the BIOS update.

I'm in NYC,,, I agree on G-Mans opinion on the girls.... G is going to deputize me for an intelligence mission to Madrid, and in the name of National Security, we will come and drink Sangria, eat Tapas, and maybe search for some sushi with you!

Sometimes, since few weeks ago, I'd got trouble downloading files from IBM too... and with IE6 SP1!

What I discovered is that after accepting the agreement, the refered link was wrong. When that happens, I bypassed the agreement popup and went straight to the application. (ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/xxxxxx.exe)

Madrid is ok, but Barcelona is much better... a sea, a country nearby, more diverse... and, for G-Man..., more beautiful girls too! However, for those we preffer a quitter life, we stay in the Atlantic coast... more beaches for yourself!
Sorry, could not resist!
X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
A20p 2629-6UU 1400x1050 (My first Thinkpad!)
