X30 ThinkPad button no longer working

#1 Post by MrRuss53 » Wed Feb 08, 2006 4:31 pm

Hi,

The ThinkPad button on my X30 is no longer working when I press it (this is the black rectangular one near the Escape key that has the word 'ThinkPad' on it). I evidently blew it and deleted some critical files, but am unsure what ones they were and would like to get the associated files re-installed to get it functioning again. Can anyone help?

Regards,
Russ.

I don't know where the official IBM file is, but I use the Thinkpad Button Customizer from www.schlackman.org/programs/thinkpad.html site. It's freeware and works fine for me on my X30 and TransNote.

Edit: D'oh! Following my own link to make sure it worked, I see it has a pointer to the appropriate IBM files :)

Thanks for the information. After going to the site you suggested, I downloaded the button customizer, which is a nice utility for buttons other than the "thinkpad button". After looking some more, I finally found the file needed that is associated with button I was referring to. It's name is "accessthinkpad-x30-us.exe" I downloaded it and put in in my Program Files\ibmhelp folder (which the contents were accidently deleted earler) and it worked the way it should, bringing up the annimated help.

Regards.
