A30p with WUXGA monitor?

#1 Post by ClarenceT » Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:56 am

Hi

I've looked on this forum and lenovo and ati with no luck, so hope you can help..

Does an A30p work with a WUXGA monitor - 1920 x 1200? Or is the max 1600 x 1200?

Thanks

Hi,
A30P and A31P work with 1600X1200. It is so called UXGA LCD screen.

The A30p will natively support up to a 2048 x 1536 external monitor.

You might need a driver from the display manufacturer in order to support a wide screen display.

You should be able to use WUXGA external monitor with a A31p with the Omega Drivers and docking station to get DVI.

I have gone through this issue ... with very satisfactory results .. and some hand-holding from the list.

* Have purchased the Dell-2405FPW 24" WUXGA monitor.
* Have Dock-II
* Got the Radeon Omega driver (Circa 25MB file) .. installs readily.
*From Dock-II connected to Dell via DVI cable

* UntraMon is an extremely useful utility for managing your displays (on top of the Omega driver) .. if you are using the external display along with your internal display ... and if you are also using a projector. UltraMon enables you to run two desktops, or an extended desktop, e.g., 1200 high x 1960 + 1600 wide.

Comment .. the DELL display has better specs than the A31p's display (by itself an outstanding display in my view).
If you want to do photo editing do it on the DELL .. calibrate that display .. and it is nearly as good as a high quality CRT for photo editing.
