greetings,
my x24 died last night - it's showing nothing but blank screen. it doesn't even post to bios. that part i'm not too worried about since it's still under warranty and will let IBM do the repair.
luckily, i happen to have x23 that's been sitting in my closet. i removed the HDD from x24 and installed it on x23. and it worked!
the windows 2000 and all the other program was originally installed on x24. i guess my concern is that if i keep using windows 2000 and all the other programs on x23, will i eventually crash the windows 2000 and the other programs on my HDD? right now, i'm writing this on x23 and it seems to work fine.
i'm pretty sure x23 and x24 is nearly identical in terms of hardware, correct? Even their machine type is the same - 2662. so i would guess that the cpu speed is the only difference and that it's okay to use them interchangeably. but just wanted to verify this with people with more knowledge.
comments appreciated. thanks.
ps. it's the third time the motherboard on x24 died. x24 comes with weak motherboard? or am i having the worst of luck?
x23 and x24 interchangeable?
