URGENT: FINGERPRINT SENSOR DEVICE NOT DETECTED

#1 Post by flybackj988 » Sat Feb 11, 2006 3:10 am

hello.

i never thought i'd be posting a question on here but my how the times change. it's late at night and i decided to download and install lenovo's updated driver to their fingerprint software. there was a glitch in my system and it froze during the validation of the installation. i reinstalled the thinkvantage version only to find that my fingerprint scanner is no longer recognized by the system and i can't revert back to my old ibm factory provided software (or can i? if so please tell me how) what went wrong? why is the scanner not detected by the thinkvantage software?!?! thanks in advance for your efforts

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

In that case, I would try a manual re-install of the latest FPR drivers and software that is on the IBM/Lenovo website. Install it, manually if you have to, then re-boot, again manually. If that doesn't work, you might have to resort to going back to the factory image on you T43; if you decide to do that, save all your data or image at least part of it on another drive.

HTH :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

You could try Windows System Restore, to go to a previous point in time when your laptop was working properly. You can find info on this in the Windows Help and Support page, under "Pick a task".

I believe the original drivers should be located in one of the subdirectories of the C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\ directory. Since I don't have the fingerprint reader, I can't give you any more specific info.

It is a good idea to ghost your image from the onset. Fastest/best way I know to restore your hard drive.
