T21 Will not start-p

#1 Post by dmess » Sat Feb 11, 2006 11:54 am

Hi - I have a T21 that suddenly will not startup. One day I turned it on and the LEDs flash for a few seconds, then nothing but the power LED stays lit...

It sounds like it is going to startup - the drive starts to spin, but nothing happens - no POST, just a blank screen. Any ideas?

i had this problem before.
it was due to the overcharging of a capicitor on the motherboard.
it is most likely overcharged. so leave your laptop unplugged from ac source and remove your battery for about a couple of days.
that should drain the capacitor and allow you to turn it on.

Thanks for the input - after reading posts from people with similar problems - I was able to fix it.

I simply re-seated the CPU and it started working again. Not sure if this is the beginning of a bigger problem, but its working for now.
