T2x HD Coin Screw/Security Screw Size

#1 Post by dsvochak » Sat Feb 11, 2006 3:48 pm

Just got back from a visit to the hardware store for something else, but I figured since I was going anyway.

For anyone who is looking for a screw for the hard drive cover on a T2x (or for the screw hole to hold in the ultrabay device which is the same size) you need a metric machine screw 8mm long x 3mm wide with a .5 pitch.

They should be available where ever screws are sold: any reasonable hardware store, Home Depot or even bike shops.

Hard Drive screws

I get mine at my local hobby shop. They stock the DuBro line and the screws look identical to the IBM screw. If you buy the "socket" head it is the same as the "security" screw, i.e., you use an Allen wrench.
