New RAM - not detected - R40 2722

#1 Post by rcadian » Sat Feb 11, 2006 4:09 pm

Hi. I just added a 512 RAM chip into my 2nd slot on my 256MB R40, but CPU-Z is failing to detect it. I was going to get Kingston from Compusa, but they didn't have any PC2100 so I bought Compusa Brand of PC2100/PC2700.

Is the failure to detect the new RAM a compatability issue or have I fitted the chip incorrectly (as I've never done this before)...it does feel like it is sliding about a bit in the slot, but the pins are defintely connecting/touching.

Thanks for any help,

Rc

Hmm...sliding in the slot? Do you mean you can gently push down on it and it will move up and down a bit? If so, that is OK, but it should be firmly in place on the socket edge. I'd try and reseat it...

Good luck...
