pmcia card reader speed vs usb?

Will a PMCIA multi card reader (SD etc) be slower than a USB 1.0 card reader?

It would be more conveinient. I'd like to use it with Mapsource to transfer Garmin Maps to a micrSD card for the GPS 60Cx.

I have both and have not noticed any speed difference. The pcmcia card reader is so much more convenient that it would be worth it even if it was a bit slower.
