Maintenance Manual Vol. 2

#1 Post by savarin » Tue Feb 14, 2006 12:29 pm

I bought a 701C on eBay, today it came. The keyboard moves hardly, it has to be repaired.

I learned somewhere that 701C maintenance manual is a part of Mobile System Hardware Maintenance Manual Volume 2.
But - there is not such manual on the IBM web and it was removed from IBM ftp server and from one independent server I found. And I cannot find it anywhere.

Yes, I can buy it on eBay and I will do it. But before bidding I´d like to ask you whether it is possible to download this file.

Thank you.

The sticky at the top of this forum has a link. Somewhere in the files you can access from that link is this:

tpvol2.pdf 3716188 03-30-98 HMM Volume 2 for the ThinkPad 340, 355, 360, 370, 700, 720, 701, 750 and 755 systems

You're welcome. And "Search" here can be very useful too.

For removing the keyboard on the 701 you need a T1 (torx) bit!

Make sure you DO NOT torque the hell out of it when installing it or YOU WILL snap the screw (you will end up with the head on the bit)

These are TINY screws, so a little goes a long way!

I did this to the first 701 I worked on, trust me; it is not fun to fix the problem!
