Disable Infrared in TP600 BIOS

#1 Post by ottershaw » Tue Feb 14, 2006 1:37 pm

Hello All,

The infrared module in my Thinkpad 600 (type: 2645-45U) has died. At bootup it gives ERROR 01201 .

The infrared module fails when tested.

Test results:
DEV 103
ERR 08
FRU 0010

I do not use the infrared feature and would prefer to avoid replacing the system board.

Is there a way to disable the infrared in the BIOS so that the error will not appear?

Secondly, is there a listing of what each of the items in the BIOS matrix screen control? If so, where?

Thanks,

Gordon

I have no idea of how to do this, but if you search around this forum, there's some stuff on editing the bios for different reasons. My understanding is, that this can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

If you get "into" the second screen (config) of your Thinkpad bios, there's a hex editor if you press "Control" +"D"

Might do some searching on Google, and also look around "Wim's bios"

There's a forum there, with some discussion of editing Thinkpad bios
