Hidden partition on a T40p??

#1 Post by kungpow » Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:44 am

I have just got my first laptop and its a T40p. I haver never heard about hidden partitions before but the T40p should contain one.

How do I access this partition and is it possible to remove it?

The "hidden" partition is where the files used to restore/recover your system reside, in lieu of a recovery CD. If you want to access the partition, press the blue "Access IBM" button and begin the rescue and recover process.

Can it be removed? Sure... reformat the hard drive (not that I'm advocating this course of action).

dunno why you would want to remove it, its actually quite helpful... windows reinstalls are a breeze.

disk space problem

#4 Post by SkirrellyJones » Thu Feb 23, 2006 12:58 am

I had IBM Rescue and Recovery doing weekly backups of my system. But when it did it today it ran out of space. I have manged to get back about 7.8GB back. I then went into the program and tried to delete some of the backups but it is saying that it doesn't have enough free space to DELETE the backup. How much space does it need to remove the backups? Any suggestions on how to get rid of the any of them? Thanks in advance.
