screen shuts off too ofter in 1 second intervals

Hi

Something very strange happening with my IBM Thinkpad A31, the screen shuts off “turns to black” every second unless I keep moving the mouse or typing. Never done it before. The screen saver set-up is on 15 minutes. and the power saver scheme is 25 min. Any ideas to what is causing this.
