T23 - Date/Time Error

Every other day or so I get a error on startup that says my date and time are wrong. I'm then sent to change it in the bios. Is there a way to fix this?

Not a big problem by any stretch, just really annoying.

Sometimes that means you need a battery, CMOS type.

The CMOS battery is the little yellow battery under your regular battery. Doesn't matter that you are not using an original IBM battery.

Is the CMOS battery something I can pickup in regular stores like best buy?

I don't think so. The part number is 02k6572. The battery is a 2032 type with the special leads soldered on. It looks something like this:

You can get a battery without the caddy and use your existing caddy.
