enabling fingerprint login and usb power surge issues

#1 Post by eric530 » Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:32 pm

I'm not sure why, but recently my t43 has been booting up to the normal windows logon screen, The thinkpad asks for my finger print for the bios and hd log in, but the windows one is gone. Any tips or suggestions on the settings or program to run to get it back?

Also recently Ive been getting errors of a "Power Surge On Hub Port" saying a "USB device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub port. You should Disconnect the Device" with a popup showing 8 ports and one wit an "Unknown USB Device"

I dont have anything plugged into the usb ports, restarted, and cant really figure out whats causing the errors.

Thanks
Eric

Hi

I don't get the fingerprint login problem, but I also have the same USB problem. Have you ever opened up your laptop, or taken the keyboard out? I've done the latter. Just trying to figure out any similarities.

Also, does your battery information tell you anything strange? On the Battery Information page of the IBM Power Manager, it says that my battery's voltage is over 12V (~12.4 on AC, ~12.3 on battery). Do you get that, too?
