600x 2645 - mem upgrade

#1 Post by noeffort » Mon Feb 20, 2006 8:09 pm

Hi,
Installed xp pro and would like to do a mem upgrade.
Read somewhere to disable on board 32 ram? If true how and why?

It's runnning with 2 x 128 modules.

Would like to install 2x256 modules.
What type and any suggestions for where? ebay?
What's a reasonable price?

thanks in advance...

For the 600X, you shouldn't have to disable the onboard ram. I believe that the only time that you need to diable the ram is if you are trying to upgrade the processor.

You can find the 256mb PC100 Low Density chips on eBay for $40-50 each. Just make sure that they are Low Density (16 chips, 8 on each side)
