BTW, my desktop settings are not on auto arrange, only on align to grid, and I switch between profiles on the Presentation Director to support an external monitor.
My desktop icons rearrange on reboot?

I had this same problem when I first got my T43. After I reinstalled Windows, problem no more! Yeah! After update, problem again
Anyone else have this?

Hi Eddo,
I do not have a solution for your problem but a workaround is this little freeware application... with just a right click on My Computer you can save/restore the icons position.
Hope it helps! However, if problem occurs on every boot, I will look deeper into what causes the problem.

X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)

I had some strange things happen with the Presentation Director... I noticed that it would change to a LOW screen resolution in between changing screen resolutions or adding/dropping a second monitor (the low res screen would flash up for just a moment) and that would mess up the positions of all my desktop icons. I didn't figure out a fix for this, I just got rid of Presentation Director and that fixed the problem.
My icons would go all over the place whenever I changed resolutions, and what works for me is a shareware program called IconSaver. You can use it for a month free, to see if it works for you. The registration fee was only $5. It will remember your desktop icon positions for different resolutions.

Cool. I have the same problem with my Dell D400 and Lenovo T43. I run both with docking stations at UXGA (1600x1200), which is more than the native resolution of either units (XGA and SXGA+ respectively). I'll try that little shareware app!

It happens to me from time to time, recently for several days straight. i use Ray Adams' ATI Tray Tools. It memorizes, and restores, icon locations for each of every resolution you save.
