Newbie Fingerprint reader questions

#1 Post by mazarino-sf » Tue Feb 21, 2006 2:47 pm

After reading this incredible helpful post:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... ingerprint

I learned how to replace the boot-up password with a fingerprint swipe.

My two questions:

1) This only works off of a cold boot, if I just restart my computer, the computer will boot to the desktop. Is there anyway to ask for a fingerprint verification on a warm boot?

2) Is there anyway to replace the windows password with a swipe when I lock my computer using <WIN> + L?

Thanks in advance!

In the Fingerprint software and Client Security Solution, you can set it up to use fingerprint swipes to replace typed-in password. You can even have it hide the "Press ctrl + alt + del prompt." Search through the options (including "Advanced") to find 'em. Search the forums for "fingerprint," it's been discussed in the last 30 days I think.

I haven't found any workaround to the warm restart idiosyncracy but disabling the "power-on password logs in to windows" option would probably force Windows authentication on each boot.

These two options are probably exclusive of each other.
