Sensors panel applet that works with ibm_acpi?

#1 Post by mini » Wed Feb 22, 2006 4:51 am

Hi!

I'm using the senors panel applet to see the current value of the CPU temp. sensor. Unfortunetly this applet won't show the values from /proc/acpi/thermal.

Does anyone know of a panel applet that does?

Thanks,
Marcus

I never did find a panel applet that would do that, athough I did get a Gdesklet that used ACPI to show the CPU temp.

Installing GDesklets was a bit more work, but you can do some interesting things with it.

Strangely, Gdesklets.org is supposed to be the main site, but it doesn't have nearly as many desklets as gdesklets.gnomedesktop.org

I found that the latest version of the sensor applet actually has support for ibm_acpi: http://sensors-applet.sourceforge.net/

You will need to uninstall the sensors applet from the Ubuntu repository, download the source and compile it yourself (what needs a whole bunch of other things compiler and gtk stuff).

I'll post a screenshot as soon as I have access to my new toy.

Here it is:
