chassis replacement

#1 Post by cyanide959 » Wed Feb 22, 2006 3:03 pm

hi all, i've had my T22 for about 4 years now and it's the best laptop I've ever owned, the display is just immaculate with 1450x1050 but some recent problems with it have got me looking at the T43p, i want to get it but i really don't wanna shell out 1.5-2k for it so i just want to fix my T22 to save some money, I wish i would of signed up on this forum a long time ago but o well, i am here now!!!

anyways, the problems are the stress crack on the right side of the chassis right in front of the ultra bay right next to the keyboard, i think a screw was loose on the bottom back side that caused this from opening and closing the unit, additionally, the ultrabay latch will not open so the cdrom is stuck in there and i can't swap it with another drive. The latch used to click sliding it to the right and back and then the other platic latch would release so u can pull the whole drive out. I want to just replace the chassis, is there an instruction guide step by step, i was looking on ebay, i have the 2647-6eu, will the 2647-8eu be compatible and is there a guide on how to replace the chassis base? i hope it is no too complicated!!! thanks for reading my book!!!! lol

Hi, welcome to the Forum!!!!

First, you can use the Hardware Maintenance Manualto show you how to remove everything to replace the chasis.

Second, the two bases that you are comparing should be compatible.

hey thanks guys, i've been at this laptop for 1 hour tryin to take it apart, i finally got that crap latch released and pulled the dvd drive out, ya!!! but i'm stuck on the lcd disassembelly, page 121 on that manual, i took the 3 screws out and now i'm just left with the two hinges on the left and right side, are those hinges to snap right out, i dont want to pull too hard, i'm not sure on this part? thanks again!

well i looked further down into the manual and the two hinges aren't to be messed with, i've been tryin to pull on them and they won't budge, should i pull harder or pull a certain way? i really don't want to mess anything up, especially the lcd screen by pulling too hard, anyone have experiencing pulling the lcd out? i did take the screws out from the base of the the two hinges.

Sorry, I missed your previous update post. I would have told you to double check all of the screws. That happened to me on one of the first TP600Es that I worked on.
