Another T-series battery saga

#1 Post by sktn77a » Tue Jul 20, 2004 5:08 pm

Well, I have read so much about the battery saga of the T-series over the last couple of months that I decided to call IBM and [censored] about the loose, rattling Sanyo battery in my #2 daughters T40 (#1 daugter has a T41 with a Sony battery and it's tight as a drum).

Well, guess what......................... Yep, the new Sony battery is as loose as the Sanyo battery (maybe even looser).

WTF!!!???

Time to break out the thin foam strips.

This makes me wonder just who is overseeing quality control over at the battery factories.

Is there a DYI (do-it-yourself) section on this forum? I could post some pics of the modifications I did.

Bill, do you know how we can upload pics?

i have sufficient storage to host pics..

we don't promote pics here because some users use slow connections and/or use PDA's..

its a courtesy thing..

if you want to do a "do it yourself" page i'll hang it on thinkpads.com..

for the battery rattle i just take a heat gun and VERY carefully soften the hook, form it inward a tiny bit, and VIOLA! its a tight fit (if done right).. :D

Same here
My last three ThinkPads the extended battery was slightly loose. Did not bother me that much. On my current 2373KXU Sony battery it was the same. Had some light play but not a big deal. I put a piece of black electrical tape on both ends and it moves no more.
