t42 speaker broken?

#1 Post by chuliu » Thu Feb 23, 2006 1:20 pm

I mis-srewed some of the srews at the buttom of the t42 and since I cant correct it, I brought the unit to the maintenance. They told me they need to check and one day later, they told me when I mis-screwed, the screw broke one of the speakers, and the charge will be 90 USD plus labor. I said no and I just wanted them to put the screws to the right places. They also told me that hdd had bad sectors and they will replace for free. As to the speaker, it is misuse and i have to pay. Today I picked up the unit with new hdd all right, and when I tested the speaker, it appeared to be functioning. They said only one of them is bad. How can I verify that? How can a t42 speaker be broken so easily? And also I lost one srew before I brought to them, they did not give a new one for me.

Play a music CD, or other sound file. Double-click on the Volume Control icon in the System Tray at the lower right. Move the Balance slider back and forth from right to left. If you do not see the Volume Control icon, look in Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control.
