TP i1300 cdrom question.

#1 Post by oldgrandpainmi » Fri Feb 24, 2006 12:30 pm

Hello all,
I am looking for opinions about what to do with a cdrom I pulled from a TPi1300. I was lucky enough to get a Compaq (Hatachi brand I believe) cd/rw-dvd combo for free yesterday and installed it into my i1300 with almost no problems. Works as good as my desktop burner.

Now the question. I have a working cdrom I am not using. I would like to see if there is some way to convert it to a portable USB drive. If not, I'd like to get an opinion as to its worth. I am in need of some parts for this thing and really don't want to be scammed. If it is worth trading, then I'll put a new topic in the WTB/WTS/WTT forum. I am in need of a main battery, memory sodimm, and/or a OEM 12v auto adaptor.

I went to eBay to get ideas, but they are selling from $20-$100+. I did a search, and there are 4 online companys that that are selling this model new for $170 new. Now I know mine is not worth that!!! But I am curious to see if it is worth enough to trade.

What's your opinion :?: I'd like to get some advice before I make any decisions.

OGPIM

As far as a price goes, it is really going to be dependant on the demand for it. I can tell you first hand that when I was looking for a CD-rom for my i1400 (on several occasions, because I kept getting the wrong model) I paid a pretty penny for each one.

If you do list it, be sure to provide as much information as possible, because the iSeries was so odd in that the i1400 series had several different part numbers one for each sub-model.
