it wont work on a T42. itll work on a T43, you need the i915 northbridge, i855 does not support 533fsb chips, and therefore does not support this mod.

Hi,

Well, this pinmod thing will only work with T43s, since you need a motherboard that supports FSB 533...

In any case, it has been reported as working in several places... in fact the trick is quite old. It has been doneis in desktops with tualatin celeron processors for a while now...

Will try to get a cheap one somewhere just to try this out ..
T440s OK so far.
T420s NVIDIA graphics. Nice, then MB failure.
T400s Workhorse. two of'em, both faulty display with vertical stripes.
T43 °very nice° - MB reflown and dead, two of'em.
T42 15°, dead onboard wireless.
T40, dead memory slot, stolen from me
T30, stolen from me
TP600 dead

Just hold onto that old CPU for warranty purposes :)
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...
